Tasting notes
Part barrel ferment has given this cool climate wine layers of complexity, with guava, crisp pink lady apples and gooseberry notes.
Winemakers notes
Mount Gambier is even cooler than Marlborough in NZ, so the long growing period allows the grapes to develop an abundance of flavours, and It means we can barrel ferment to increase complexity without losing it’s crispness and zest.
Single vineyard, organically grown.
We are very proud of our wines - we hope you enjoy them.

According to J. Gladstone the Biological Effective Degree Days (BEDD) – where you add all the temperatures of the growing season together – of the top sub region of Burgundy is 1242. Mount Gambier’s BEDD is 1245, making it the closest to - the most famous French Pinot Noir region - Burgundy that we have in Australia. Est. 1883, the Cape Banks Lighthouse is a significant orange monument standing as a sentinel on South Australia’s rugged South East coastline. The lighthouse’s powerful lamps shine shafts of warning light across the wild Southern Ocean, offering protection for passing vessels from treacherous hidden reefs.

Tasting notes
Mount Gambier is the coolest region on the mainland of Australia, allowing flavours in the grapes to develop longer while still keeping their crispness. This produces rich lemon and lime Chardonnay. A complexity of minerality, flavours and a long finish. Strong aromas of ripe Fuji apples with a hint of citrus peel, great mousse, a good dose of sweetness on the front palate with lively ripe apple flavours with just a trace of musk on the finish. Complex, unusual and yummy.
Winemakers notes
80% Chardonnay 20% Pinot. Mount Gambier is the coolest region in mainland Australia, allowing flavours in the grapes to develop longer while still keeping their crispness. This produces rich lemon and lime Chardonnay, and luscious Pinot Noir. This coupled with the minerality from the rocky flint under just 10cm of soil in our Mount Gambier vineyard, helps create a complexity of flavours and long finish.
We are very proud of our wines - we hope you enjoy them.

Just 40 minutes south of our Coonawarra vineyards are our Mount Gambier vineyards. Mount Gambier is the coolest region in mainland Australia and has perfect conditions for creating excellent Riesling.
Razor-sharp flint rocks rise from the thin soils under vines, and the pure underground water flows from the famous Blue Lake.
The flint and minerally notes are a hint that it will age for well over 20 years.

50% new French oak Hogshead barrels for 4 months, going through malo-latic (2nd ferment) changing the malo acids into lactic acid, the same as in milk and butter, giving it a creamy mouth feel.
50% select yeast ferment - single ferment only keeping the crisp lime, pink lady apple and mineral notes. This is ‘left on lees’ (the dead yeast after ferment) and is stirred to increase flavours and complexity.
